Each sabai basket is handwoven by a group of women artisans in rural Odisha in a fair trade environment. Depending upon complexity of the patterns, each basket takes 6 hours- 3 days to make.
Women artisans make our baskets in comfort of their homes or in groups at allocated centers. SABAI is handmade at its finest. With the aspiration to bring African baskets to the Indian market, our search for made in India baskets ended with Odisha in 2018. We work with 200+ women artisans empowering them with a considerable hike in their regular income thus providing improved living conditions, access to healthcare etc.

The colors are just as vibrant and lovely in person! There is also the added bonus of a thread loop at the back of each basket to hang it from! I had assumed I would have to nail through the basket so this was a serious upgrade!! Quick shipping and very beautiful product!!
